FOOD INSECURITY CARE PACKAGES

At Open Hearts - Changing Lives, we are committed to serving low-income families and the homeless by providing them with essential food and care packages. We understand that the hunger crisis is not limited to a specific season but is a year-round issue that requires ongoing support and assistance.
Our goal is to address the immediate needs of individuals and families who are facing food insecurity and provide them with nutritious meals and care packages to help alleviate their struggles. We believe that everyone deserves access to an adequate and consistent food supply, regardless of the time of year.
Through partnerships with community organizations, and generous donors, we are able to gather and distribute food items that meet the nutritional needs of those we serve. Additionally, our care packages may include essential items such as hygiene products, clothing, blankets, and other necessities to provide comfort and support. By offering these services year-round, we aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families in need. We recognize that hunger and homelessness are complex issues that require a multifaceted approach, and we are dedicated to providing ongoing support and resources to address these challenges.
According to a report from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) using the most recent Census Bureau survey data (collected from December 9 to December 21, 2020), almost 29 million, or 14%, of all adults in the U.S. said their households sometimes or often did not have enough to eat in the previous week.
Millions of families are teetering on the edge of food insecurity: Just 44% of households with children are “very confident” they can afford the food they need in the next four weeks, according to a census survey from November 2020.
In North Carolina, people in nearly 590,000 households do not have enough food to eat each day. North Carolina has the 10th highest rate of food insecurity in the nation. When a family is “food insecure,” it means that not every family member has access to healthy and nutritious food choices to support an active and healthy lifestyle.
If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance or a care package, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at openhearts@openheartsofnc.org. Our team is here to provide guidance, support, and access to the resources available
