GREEN COMPASS VETS HOUSING PROGRAM
Our Mission:
To end veteran homelessness in the United States. At the same time, raising our military veterans and families through our Green Compass Program. We are the first step to transforming veterans’ lives to true north, through housing, career development, counseling, and comprehensive life support.
Our Vision:
Is that all our veterans and their families have gainful employment with independence to grow.
Our Career Development Program:
Will allow the Veterans and their family a safe and stable environment to find their true north direction in life. Our program will assist them in enrolling in the FTCC Basic Construction Technology 6.5-week course, CDL Truck Driver Training 10-week program, CISCO CCNA EMT Basic, Collision Repair 15 weeks program, CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ 8-week program, EMT Basic 8- week program, Firefighter Academy Firefighter 14-week course, Logistics & Distribution Management 7-week course and Two Welding Programs 15-week pipe/structural welding program or Mobile Structural & Pipe Welding. While the Veteran is enrolled or making progress in the training. They are allowed to stay for 12 months when their revaluation of status will take place.
Our Career Centers and Career Counseling Services:
We help veterans translate their military experience into civilian employment opportunities. At the same time, we foster long-term relationships with large employers committed to hiring veterans. As a result, we help expedite the placement process and expand employment opportunities for the veterans we serve.
Counseling Program:
Because no two veterans’ circumstances or life experiences are the same, we review their specific needs to provide a wide range of support designed just for them. Whether it be food and clothing assistance, legal aid, help with military benefits, transportation, peer-to-peer support, or therapeutic activities, we will do whatever it takes to provide and find the help our veterans need to get back on their feet.
Case Managers:
Partner with clients to create individualized plans that identify and address their immediate and long-term goals, strengths, and barriers. Motivational interviewing is often employed as a means of encouraging veterans to explore their past and future expectations and to change their behavior. Case managers work with VA personnel and community partners to provide the necessary resources.
Housing Program:
Through emergency, transitional housing, permanent housing and shelter beds, we provides low-barrier access to ensure that veterans and their families have a safe place to stay while working on permanent housing placement. Located on a 3 to 5-acre property, the James Elliott Werner Housing Community will feature 30 tiny houses and a 2,000-square foot Community Center.
