Empowering Families through Farm to Table: Growing Nutritional Foods Together
At Open Hearts - Changing Lives, we recognize the importance of farming in providing nutritious food for families in our community. We are excited to introduce our Farm to Table program, offering an opportunity for our clients to learn about planting and farming their own foods. 🌱🍅🌽
Our Program:
🌿 Greenhouse for Vegetables: We provide a greenhouse where our clients can learn and cultivate a variety of vegetables. This controlled environment allows for year-round growing, ensuring a steady supply of fresh and nutritious produce.
🌳 Outdoor Garden for Fruits: In addition to the greenhouse, we have an outdoor garden where clients can plant and harvest a range of fruits. This hands-on experience allows them to connect with nature and enjoy the satisfaction of growing their own food.
💧 Hydroponics and Herbs: Our program also includes hydroponics, a soil-less method of growing plants, which maximizes space and water efficiency. Clients can learn about hydroponics and grow herbs to enhance the flavor and nutritional value of their meals.
♻️ Composting and Worm Beds: We promote sustainable farming practices by incorporating composting and worm beds. Clients can learn how to compost organic waste and use it to enrich the soil, creating a closed-loop system that reduces waste and improves soil health.
🌱 Medicinal Garden: We believe in the power of nature to heal. Our program includes a medicinal garden where clients can learn about and grow herbs with medicinal properties, promoting holistic health and well-being.
🌱 Free Seeds and Home Gardens: We provide free seeds to clients who wish to start their own gardens at home. By empowering them to grow their own food, we promote self-sufficiency and ensure that nutritious options are accessible to families beyond our program.
🏡 Produce Shed: We have a dedicated produce shed where clients can choose from a variety of fresh produce grown through our Farm to Table program. This allows them to select the fruits and vegetables that best suit their needs
